Math can be frustrating to some children often causing them to lose interest in learning math. In fact I can remember that it was not a favorite subject of mine I also remember math books with long mathematical problems that were challenging and your work must be shown on paper. There was never other interesting ways of solving a math problem that would be acceptable. Even now math is a topic that often gives teachers and parents the greatest pause since it is the subject in school that gives the most frustration to children.

Despite the fact that math can be problematic to children there are ways that children can become acquainted with the fun of math. There are many ways of teaching math which encourages enjoyable learning and excitement. What can we do to bring out the excitement of math in children? Finding other alternatives to teaching math is often the best way to regain the children’s interest and doing away with the frustration of math.

Providing children with hands-on math games that approaches mathematical thinking and problem- solving concepts in a different manner will help the learning and engaging process that children need. We must remember that math is a difficult subject for some to grasp, but we must also learn how to make children’s imaginations soar when learning math. We must also help children to learn math as a useful and accessible tool that can bring on an academic edge certain to last them for a lifetime. Math must be creative and interesting.

For example, using math manipulative, interactive games and even board games can provide engaging math learning and play to children they also keep children entertained for hours and they often never realize how much they are learning. There is a lot to be said about the different ways of teaching math to children.

Today the hands-on approach, for example, seems to be the most helpful in teaching. Math manipulative are used as a hands-on approach and have become valuable to the learning of math in a teachers classroom. Teachers are able to introduce physical and visible objects to learn math. Children are able to visualize their work and create a better understanding of the math concept.

Board games are a form of math and use mathematical concepts for learning. There is so many ways of teaching math and games are very favorable to children so putting the two together math and games makes since. Besides using math games is a great way to provide learning and practicing of basic math skills while keeping children challenged and entertained. Math games can help parents teach children at home as well. The math games are friendly they come in board games and electronic book form that can be downloaded to your computer to simply print and play. The games are perfect for all ages and some electronic book games let you create your own games for children so you can be creative with math that would interest your children and they would not want to stop playing.

Whatever games you choose the games should keep children challenged and entertained the games should be enjoyed simply through play and should be able to be used in an approach that will promote the learning of mathematical concepts children need to learn while engaging in a fun learning math game.
